The Restoration of Byzantine Paintings

Conference:Cyprus and Italy. Restoration of Byzantine Paintings.

This conference is organised on the occasion of International Museum Day on 18th of May 2010, by the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation, the Italian Embassy in Cyprus, the Institute for Conservation and Restoration (ISCR) in Rome and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (C.T.O). Scholars and restorers from the ISCR of Rome (C. Mora and B. Provinciali) will present the results of the restoration of the big icon of Saint Nicholas tis Stegis of the Byzantine Museum and the future restoration of the Cypriot icon of the Virgin of the Carmelites. A round table with Cypriot restorers will follow, in order to examine similarities and differences on restoration methods between Cyprus and Italy.
